I want to invite you on a journey

I want to invite you on a journey. I am sure it will be one worth following. At the very least, you will be entertained. At most, my hope is that you will be motivated to start your own unique journey.

I am recording this journey and sharing it because I have hopes and dreams that it will be a story worth sharing for generations to come. But I am also aware that if I reach the end of this journey, that it would not be necessary to record it because the 'recording' of it will be the impact that it has on thousands of people's lives.

That is a bold statement and a statement that will hopefully keep you walking with me on this journey. And I suppose that is another reason I am recording it. This is a journey that I cannot walk alone. It would be impossible, and a failed journey from the start, if others didn't actually join me in not only watching this journey but by walking it with me.

I am also recording this journey because I want to fulfill the Scripture that says, "Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." That is intimidating and scary because I am bringing Jesus into this as a partner. I mean, I wouldn't want any other partner, but I also don't want to be that partner who just sucks and brings the whole ship down with him. I'm confident that he will hold up to be a loyal and trustworthy partner because I have his solid track record of grace and faithfulness to me, even when I have least deserved it. My journey up until now has been a journey of grace, and this journey will only succeed by the continued outpouring of grace by God the Father through Jesus Christ.

Okay, so I feel compelled to write an aside here too. You see, I'm also intimidated and scared to bring Jesus into this because of all the baggage he carries because of a lot of shitty people who have used and continue to use his name to commit heinous acts of evil. He doesn't deserve that, and I know I don't have to defend him (since he's not here to defend himself), but I guess that is what he signed up for in the first place when he came to this earth to hang on a cross for a crime (or billions of crimes) he didn't commit.

So for those of you who are not 'Christian' - or debating if you still want to be - I really would like for you to follow along this journey too, and maybe even join if you feel compelled to. I'm not looking for 'Christians' to support or follow or join this journey. What I'm looking for is love-led people. Jesus was not a Christian; Jesus was, and still is, Love embodied in a human being. And that love led him to die on a cross at the hand of his enemies so that they may become his dear friends.

All this to really say, I hope that you see that this is a journey of love. Because if it isn't that, then you shouldn't bother watching because it won't be a story worth anything anyway.

This is also a journey of faith. Every journey that anyone takes is a journey of faith, even if it is just a walk to the grocery store (especially now since you could get corona and die). It is a faith journey because faith is believing in the unseen destination before you arrive at it. Sure, some journeys are more compelling than others. Your trip to the grocery store is not very interesting (at least to me). But this journey that I am undertaking should be a compelling one because it takes a lot of faith to believe the journey is worth undertaking (and a lot of guts to ask you to come along on it).

I'm hoping by now that you are still with me. And I'm also hoping that you are screaming, "Get to the damn journey already!" Okay, okay, okay, here's the journey I am undertaking…

I call this journey The VitVox Enterprise. (More explanation needed, of course, and not a direct Star Trek reference either.)

Let's start with the definition of enterprise. An enterprise is a project or undertaking this is especially difficult, complicated, or risky. This journey can only be accomplished through much exertion of effort in various ways and by a myriad of people. And what also makes this complicated is that I’m not quite sure what this is or will be. VitVox currently exists as an LLC owned by myself and my business partner Nick. But it exists first and foremost to impact people and maximize shareholder impact as opposed to the typical reason for the existence of a modern company to maximize shareholder value.

The second explanation needed to understand what this journey is is VitVox. VitVox is a made-up word that I creatively cobbled together two and a half years ago as this journey was beginning in my mind. Vit is the Latin root for 'life,' and Vox is the Latin root for 'voice.' So VitVox is Life Voice. Your Life Voice, or VitVox (in my headspace), is the unique message your life is to speak into your world. It is the reason you uniquely exist in this world. I believe that each person on this planet is given a unique life to speak a unique message to their world. And I also fear that many squander that gift.

And that fear is what compels me to embark on my journey. I fear what it may mean for me to miss out on speaking my own life voice into the world and what I would miss out on. I fear missing out on the reward of being awake and alive and bringing my all, each moment, every day, and experiencing the satisfaction of doing something that I feel is my purpose and seeing that purpose influence many other people's lives. Or, more simply, as the apostle Paul said, "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them."

So that is the journey I am embarking on. The journey to help thousands of people discover their voice and launch it into their world—the journey to help others find and live their purpose. And also to reach the goal of helping 120 people launch a business into the world that fulfills their purpose for the good of their world.

So this is the journey that I am inviting you to come along with me on. I'm Frodo. I have a ring. And I'm taking a perilous journey to Mordor to melt the ring of power. Or something like that. You can sit and eat popcorn and enjoy the story. I invite you to that. Or you could come along. I'd much rather have you come along, and we can embark on this journey together. And there are many ways to do that. You could be like one of the Fellowship, or you could be like the elves and help us all on our way with gracious gifts, or you are Frodo taking up your burden for the saving of the world. Either way, we'd be in this together. (If you are not picking up all the Lord of the Rings references, click the link).

Here's another way you can join along the journey. I would love to enter into a dialogue with you over these ideas that I am putting before you in this newsletter. The site that I am utilizing to do this is Satchel, and my public site is here where you can see all my newsletters and point anyone to who you think would benefit from them as well. On my public site, you should see at the bottom the option to make a comment. Follow the process there, and let's get to the discussion!
